Independent “Outsider” art by SLP:

There is another side of me that creates art with more mature themes, such as this collage I made this summer.

Sometimes my creations are unintentionally pre-cognitive in ways that I can’t even explain. I was working on this collage for the Summer 2024 Art 100 class on July 13th, 2024 and had stopped at this point a few minutes before President Trump’s assassination attempt. I had originally wanted the collage to highlight the differences between two tech titan’s opposing views for the future, and now here they are both playing even bigger roles in the government, too. I only picked the magazine items I did because they were available for free at the Sequim library at the time. I left it unfinished but changed the contrast and colors a little bit in photoshop. Main subjects in image are Sam Altman and Elon Musk at the 2014 Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit when their differences in opinion first started cropping up. Other Newsweek and the new yorker clip art included including the comic artist Nathan Pyle’s “What a curious creature” panel from Strange Planet. Image also features an Apple II computer with a fallen civilization on it, Sakura blossoms, a war torn library shelf in Gaza, a Boring company tunnel with a Tesla driving away in it. Monster truck and Rock Paper Scissors is supposed to represent Musk’s train of thought toward Altman and both men sit between a traditional home cooked meal above a $100 note of fake copy money that had been in the frame more but I had to move it down because Photoshop did not like a bank note being scanned in at all. 2014 video if anyone is interested: https://www.vanityfair.com/video/watch/elon-musk-y-combinator-president-thinking-for-the-future

I was working on this collage for the Summer 2024 Art 100 class on July 13th, 2024 and had stopped at this point a few minutes before President Trump's assassination attempt. I had originally wanted the collage to highlight the differences between two tech titan's modus operandis for the future of artificial intelligence, and now here they are both playing huge roles in the government with DOGE, Project Stargate, and many other contracts. I only picked the magazine items I did because they were the few Newsweek and other generic newspapers available for free at the Sequim library at the time.
